Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a resource navigator. This unpaid volunteer opportunity is ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in helping families and navigating resources while contributing to our mission of supporting Autism education and community initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Provide support and assistance to individuals and families affected by autism and/or with other neurodivergence, including advocacy, counseling, and resource referral.
Conduct needs assessments to identify client needs, strengths, and goals, and develop individualized service plans.
Manage resources effectively by overseeing the allocation and utilization of services and support mechanisms available to clients.
Conduct comprehensive case management, including monitoring the progress of clients, adjusting services as needed, and ensuring seamless communication across all care providers.
Collaborate with other professionals and community organizations to coordinate services and support networks for clients.
Facilitate support groups and workshops on topics related to parenting, education, coping strategies, and community resources.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documentation, and progress notes in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in social work and autism services.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate from a social work program or related field.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with clients.

  • Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment, managing multiple cases and priorities.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in Chinese is required.

The Chinese Autism Resources and Empowerment Service (CARES) is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization based in Seattle, WA.
